Tahseen Alam is an Indian Development Professional and she is currently working as Communication specialist at UNICEF. Ms Alam has over 12 years of experience in public and policy advocacy, external communications and campaigning; experience in programme management, developing advocacy and campaign strategies and strengthening strategic partnerships for advocacy with different stakeholders including policymakers, parliamentarians, celebrities, and faith-leaders. Tahseen has excellent internal communication and social media skills, experience in crisis communication and documentary film-making.
Taseen Alam has been working as communication specialist and Advocacy and Communication officer at UNICEF for six years. As part of her work in Tanzania she is Leading the external communication and young people engagement portfolio for UNICEF. As the lead on external communications, she strategizes on social media outreach, campaigns, and celebrity influencer management to advance the child rights agenda in the country. Additionally, as the lead on youth engagement portfolio, she manages strategic partnerships with youth and civil society networks in the country. (2018-present). In Assam, she has worked in a role to Initiate and manage strategic partnerships with a range of stakeholders including policy-makers, media, civil society and faith leaders to achieve results for children. She was also Responsible for design and execution of communication, media relations and information management in support of the UNICEF programme. (2018).
Tahseen has also worked as Consultant on Right to Education (RTE) Campaign at UNICEF during 2012-2013 in New Delhi and she was responsible for supporting the development of a communication strategy for the campaign at the national level. She has also served as Media and Communication officer at United Nations Development Programme in Colombo, Sri Lanka during 2008-2010. Tahseen worked as Regional Advocacy Manager at CARE in New Delhi during 2013-2014 where she has played the role of Enhancing Mobile Populations’ Access to HIV/AIDS Services, Information and Support (EMPHASIS) in CARE EMPHASIS which was a three-country project, Taseen Alam was responsible for leading and coordinating initiatives to influence relevant policy-makers, and civil society stakeholders on migration, labour and HIV issues at the regional level. In-charge of managing regional advocacy and media partners for EMPHASIS. Tahseen have also worked as the Regional Media and Communication Officer, South Asia at Oxfam GB, South Asia Regional Centre During 2010-2011 where she Played the role of media and communication (both internal and external) for the South Asia region for Oxfam GB. Here, her work involved developing effective strategies for the region to ensure comprehensive coverage of Oxfam’s priorities and a significant responsibility revolved around developing a digital strategy for the region and helping countries adopt digital for development, communication and humanitarian response. An important element of her work was to build media and communication capacity of countries by providing advisory and capacity-building support. She has also worked as Media and Communications Consultant at Climate Action Network South Asia (CANSA) during 2011-2012.
Taseen Alam, completed her studies, BA in English Literature from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, and her MPA, in International Development Studies from Cornell University, New York
